The Nashville Improvisation Ensemble is a rotating collective organized by Matt Endahl in 2020 to explore the expressive spaces opened by John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Bill Dixon. For tonight’s performance, the NIE will perform Endahl’s composition Jacob’s Ladder (2012), a series of temporary ensembles based on the structure of DNA nucleotides. The NIE has released a three-volume recording on Sound Mansion Recordings.
