New Orleans based improviser/guitarist/composer Chris Alford utilizes a spherical approach in his artistry. In one hemisphere is the deep tradition of jazz and blues languages of the past and in the other is avant-garde, unconventional, creative syntax. Warping the old with the new, Alford keeps his feet rooted in the ground all the while looking beyond the horizon. He is just as likely to galvanize an audience with peculiar, angular, sharp flourishes as he is to allure with luscious, atmospheric harmony and melodies. An openness to sound and collaboration allows Alford to shape and guide the music in an organic flow.
Kevin Coleman is a boundless explorer within the world of American Primitive guitar music. The Nashville-based artist channels everything from Piedmont blues to Krautrock and Appalachian freak folk into his fingerstyle guitar compositions. Coleman has previously shared the stage with several giants and peers of the solo guitar world, including Max Ochs, Joseph Allred and Yasmin Williams. His upcoming full-length release on Centripetal Force Records is a seamless blend of earthen fingerpicking, eclectic mountain string music and synth-driven kosmische music.
Andie Billheimer is a Nashville based composer, improviser, and multi-instrumentalist. Their work lives at an intersection of electro-acoustic and organic sounds in addition to their fondness for post-punk experimentalism, and background in traditional and contemporary music. This synthesis of nostalgia and futurism functions to satisfy an internal yearning to integrate yesterday’s visions into the framework of today’s reality.
